I did a big retrofit on this ramp last fall. The job went well and it was bang on to the plan, the problem was the plan didn't work as hoped when put in service. I had limited knowledge and personal experience with this particular application and the operator was fairly sure but not positive what we had come up with would do the job as well or better than the old broken ramp. Unfortunately it didn't quite cut it so the decision was made to redo the end layout, again.
Carving up something you spent a lot of time on not that long ago feels inherently wrong, no matter the circumstances. Regardless those feelings needed to be set aside as I began dismantling something that was not intended to come apart for a very long time.
Overall version 2.0 went pretty well, the finished product looks good and I was able to re use a bunch of the material cut off to save on cost as much as possible. Looking at the finished product there are very few clues to tell it was reworked, it doesn't look scabbed at all, something that was important for me.
Mother nature fought a little bit on this one with some wicked winds, so even though it looks like beautiful sunny days it wasn't all that pleasant out!
